Top Gainers

The session leaderboard. Every small-cap up the most, sorted in real time.

Overview

Top Gainers ranks tickers by percent change since the prior session close. The list refreshes every second and re-orders on every tick that moves a ticker's chg %. The top of the panel is whatever is up the most right now. Not five minutes ago, not when you opened the page.

The panel respects your saved filter. Tickers outside your price range, above your float ceiling, or missing eligibility data after enrichment are hidden. The list is small-cap by design: the catch-all upper bounds (price, float, market cap) keep the panel focused on the names that actually move.

Top Gainers is the one panel that always has rows. HOD and Running Up only show what fired today; Top Gainers shows the leaderboard whether the tape is hot or quiet.

How it works

The scanner subscribes to per-second aggregate updates from Polygon's market data feed. Every aggregate that updates a ticker's last price recomputes its chg % and re-positions the row. Server-side, the snapshot is recomputed every five seconds and broadcast over SSE to your browser, so the wire-level update cadence is steady regardless of how busy the tape is.

Float, news, and exchange metadata enrich rows asynchronously after the initial broadcast. Until enrichment lands you may see a row with the float column blank. This is intentional. The panel does not flash empty waiting for slower data.

Columns

Symbol. The ticker. Click to open the catalyst panel for that name.
Last. Most recent print from the consolidated tape.
Chg %. Percent change vs the prior session close. Default sort.
RVol. Today's cumulative volume divided by the 10-day average of full daily volumes. 2.0 means twice typical daily volume.
Volume. Today's cumulative share volume.
Float. SEC-verified tradeable float. Hover for the source filing and date. See SEC-verified float.
CAT. Catalyst dot. Lights gold when a Benzinga headline for this ticker landed in the active catalyst window.

Sort

Click any column header to sort. The default is Chg % descending. Sort persists for the session but does not save to your profile.

Filter inputs

The Top Gainers panel obeys the same eligibility filter as the rest of the dashboard: price range, float ceiling, and exchange. See Filters & eligibility.
